never underestimate the pleasure of the Brentwood Country Mart. Maybe I am biased because I have gone since childhood, so my memories glaze over it. BUT, I think its just purely great.
ALWAYS stop at Reddi-Chick...
you cannot beat the price, taste, or experience! SIT BY THE FIRE... nostalgic, and fun.
then on your way out, get a piece of candy, at the CANDY ALLEY! I stopped by today, naturally- only to arrive along with a middle school aged boys lacrosse group. Boy did they offer up a laugh, they greet the Candy Lady, who they have undoubtedly known since birth (the store is run by a mom and two daughters..) as "hey Beautiful" and they continue on to invite her to their Friday afternoon Lacrosse match.. nothing beats that, in a big bad city, that is the stuff you ought to seek out!
here they are:
Now, you wander into the front of the store, and arrive in a old world stationary and trinket store, or as Jill Zarin or maybe my Great Aunt Bobbie would say.. A LOT OF CHOTSKIES! If nothing else, you feel you have entered into a place your grandmother used to go, where they knew her by name, everything was done by hand, and you felt you lived in the old world..
AND.. if this is not enough to convince you to escape to the Brentwood Country Mart, maybe this will help... PARKING IS FREE! and..
the Sprinkles truck spends many a afternoon parked there
THAT IS A WHOLE NOTHER ENTRY..
OH THE FOOD TRUCKS!!!
keep dreaming..
